Guillain Barre Syndrome The George Angelides Trust is a Registered Charity founded in 2007 to raise awareness and offer direct assistance to adults and children who may experience the devastating physical and mental effects of Guillain Barre, a rare neurological syndrome causing varying degrees of ascending paralysis. "We believe the charity is special." Increasingly affecting over 1,500 people in UK every year to date there is no known cure. Difficult to diagnose and often found in association with other illnesses the Trust also aims to work with health professionals to ensure fully funded treatment is offered to patients at an early stage that may help prevent complete disability. For the future the Charity will also continue towards raising funding of up £100,000 to open a rehabilitation and information unit wholly specialising in G.B.S. and associated variants such as CIDP. As we near our target we will approach the local Primary Care Trust to match funding. |
